Tourism Campaign for Kyoto, Japan
This project is a tourism campaign to pique travelers’ interest in Kyoto’s rich history and natural beauty. The themes of this campaign include elegance, history, nature, and culture.
Together with Tokyo and Osaka, Kyoto is one of the most popular travel destinations in Japan. While Tokyo is the hyper-modern capital of Japan, Kyoto is known for its traditional atmosphere, temples, shrines and Japanese gardens.

Project Scope

Process
To begin this project, I researched design styles from Japan, specifically Japonisme, colors of significance in Japan, and Japanese typography.
Next, I began developing a logo for the city of Kyoto, going through rounds of iteration to perfect it. The image to the right shows the first draft of the final logo. Using this logo and my research, I created a tourism brochure, social media assets, a webpage prototype, and several consumer touchpoints.
Inspiration
I was highly inspired by Japonisme, the bright reds found throughout Japan’s fall flora, art, and designs. Utilizing the crisp typography style
and traditional colors, I developed both print and digital assets to support Kyoto’s tourism campaign.
